VARIOUS OTHER NOTES Montacute may be interchangeable with Montagu, also found in some charters in its Latin form "de Monte Acuto". Kathleen Wingfield's husband Robert Brewes of Gt Wenham (d.1513) had a sister Margery who married John Paston of the Letters. The Brewes family are a Domesday Family, Briouze. They were Lords of Bramber, Sussex. Their place of origin is established by a series of Charters for the Abbey of St Florent at Saumur. They are also descended from Llywelyn ab Iorwerth "the Great" (1173-1240) and his wife (1205) Joan, bastard daughter of King John (d. 1237): exact line not available. The Fitzalans (sometimes Fitz Alan) are descended from Rögnvald, earl of Möre, father of Rollo, 1st Duke of Normandy. William de Bohun, 5th and youngest son of Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford and Essex by Elizabeth, daughter of Edward I (widow of John, Count of Holland). Born about 1312. Made Earl of Northampton. Married (by license 1335) Elizabeth, widow of Edmund de Mortimer (d. 1332), daughter of Giles (or Bartholomew?) de Badlesmere. She died June 1356. He died September 1360, and is buried in Walden Abbey, Essex. Richard "Copped Hat" Fitz Alan, (possibly so named because of his father's having been beheaded) 3rd Earl of Arundel. Married Eleanor, daughter of Henry, Earl of Lancaster (grandson of Henry III), by his wife Maud, daughter and heir of Sir Patrick de Chawices of Chaworth. Richard Fitz Alan, 4th Earl of Arundel and Surrey. Married 28 September 1359 Elizabeth, daughter of William de Bohun and Elizabeth Badlesmere, daughter of Bartholomew (Giles de?) Badlesmere. She died 3 April 1385, and is buried at Lewes. He was beheaded 28 September 1359. Charles Abbott Conway 7 July 1995 added by Ken - 1. 'Gent', gentleman as an occupation denotes living of investments, usually rents. added from notes by Adrian - Charles Dallenger Chenery was the grandson of Charles Chenery & Dinah Dallenger. His father was baptised Charles Chenery Dallenger, which suggests he was born out of wedlock. He later swapped his name to his grandfather's. Charles Chenery lived from 1752 - 1824 & Dinah from 1767 - 1818. Their son, Charles Chenery Dallenger & later Charles Dallenger Chenery, baptised 5/6/1789 - buried 21/4/1831, both in Wilby, married Sarah Watling (bap 31/10/1784 Stradbroke - bur 3/1878 Hoxne Union) on 30/9/1814 in All Saints, Stradbroke. |
