Las Palmas

Wednesday 27th December 2017

Another lovely day. The Pro-European tee-shirt got mixed reactions, the anti being mostly fat working class men. We were off on a tour to the Agaete Valley but first, we went to the fishing port of San Felipe, which was quite attractive but the wind made me hold my hat on when I walked along the top of the Quay for photos. We had coffees, €3.40.

The Agaete Valley

The drive up the valley was very interesting. The micro-climate makes it a horticultural wonderland, with mangos, oranges, bananas, grapes and is the only place in Europe (though calling the Canaries ‘Europe’ is pushing it a bit) where one can grow coffee. There was a wine tasting with substantial nibbles. The white was extremely good but I did not rate the rosé or red.

We were only back at the ship by 14:15 but there was something to eat in the Palms Café.
I went out for a walk in the afternoon but did not go far, just over to the other beach.
