Belfast but really.. The Giant's Causeway

Coming in to Belfast

Sunday August 18th 2013

Up early yet again, even earlier for Belfast, as we had a trip to the Giants Causeway, leaving at 8 (!) It was quite a drive through lush farmland. The Visitors Centre was ecological, buried in the hill top.

It was quite breezy. There is a free bus but we walked down to the causeway to get the views on the way. I took a lot of photos & walked with some discretion (as my leg is still gammy) out onto the basalt.

But we did take the bus back up, had hot chocolate (it was that cold) for £5.70 & looked at the exemplary exhibition, although there was too much about giants. We went to the ruined Dunluce Castle for a photo stop & back to Belfast, the driver telling copious Irish jokes & then, drove us round the city before delivering us at 1345 to the ship, so we had not eaten for 6.5 hours.

The ship soon departed for Ullapool. At 2045, the MIT Band had an audience down to 4 at one long point, which made us glad we had gone to hear them in the Coral Club.
