Montecatini Trip - 8

Saturday 2nd July 2005

This was to be a lazy day & we had a later breakfast, as the Arnold's Wallies were leaving early & we avoided them. We walked into Town with some difficulty in avoiding the Sun & arrived at the Tettucchio Terme at 11.08, buying tickets (E5 each) & sitting comfortably listening to a concert of piano trio & quite good singer ("come back to Sorrento" + "O Sole Mio" etc.) but were thrown out at 12!

We walked up & round to the funiculare (right) but while it would take us up at 1230, the next was 1500, so we walked back to the hotel & drove up to Alto, where we explored the church on the Northerly hill & castle there, then had a snack lunch but still E13.50, after which we read & then visited the Southerly hill but the views were not so good from there although the sky was clearer than recently because of less heat haze.

We went back & swam, chatting to another bunch of Belgians, the father of which had been Italian. (I asked them, "Ete vous grenouille?")
