Christian (f) Baldre b. approx 1711 |
From: Karen Davis Newstead e-mail her My husband and I went to England twice last year to look for information on his 4th great grandfather and eventually found information in Norfolk on his 5th great grandparents. His name was John Newstade (Newstead) b. approx. 1710 and married Christian Baldre (b. approx. 1711). A church record spells her Their children's names were Elisabeth, William, Christian (f), Mary, John, Sarah, Ann, John, and Robert. My husband's line is from the second John named here. I have been trying to find information on Christian, where she was from. I have tried various spellings unsuccessfully SO FAR. The church register did not have any information in the spaces telling where their parishes were. Someone told us that meant they were from that parish (Chedgrave). However, we could find no information at the church and that was our last day in England. If there's any information you have, I'd appreciate your e-mailing me. |
Harold Claude Baldry |
From: Harold Baldry (Aus.) e-mail him My family emigrated to Australia in 1957 from UK. I was thinking about putting our family tree together since then and seeing if it could mate up with any you have on the system, thus we could trace our roots. |
Maria Baldry married John Hutchinson (1806-1870) |
From: Peter McCaffery e-mail him On the (Baldry) "Suffolk 19th century to 1820" page, about a third of the way down, there is a white box showing John Baldry and Mary Hamling, whom he married in Covehithe on 14/4/1807, and enclosed therein a yellow box with "Mary Baldry (bap 14/5/08 Wrentham - ?)". I've been trying to trace the origins of a Maria Baldry who married a Halifax man called John Hutchinson (1806-1870) and lived with him in Maldon Essex till her death in 1843. I am tentatively inclined to identify her with the above Mary, whom the IGI calls Maria. Does anyone know anything that might help to clinch this identification or to scotch it? The Maldon Maria had her children christened in St Peter's Independent Church there, and not in the local parish church -- whereas after her death, none of the children born to John's second wife Lucy are recorded as having been christened in that church. So I'm wondering if it's known whether John Baldry of Covehithe/Wrentham or his wife Mary Hamling/Hamblin had connections with an independent church. Incidentally, Hamling or Hamblin looks more like a Devon name than a Suffolk one: I don't know whether that has any significance. Looking forward to hearing from you if you have any ideas or can put me in touch with someone interested in this couple and/or their daughter |

John E. Baldry, to Canada early 1900's |
From: Margriet Kitchen e-mail her I am trying to find some information on my husband's grandfather, John E. Baldry, who came to Canada early in the 1900's, probably between 1900 and 1908. He married Maude Hales of Monmouth, Ontario. They settled in Peterborough, Ontario, and had 4 daughters and 2 sons. If anyone is familiar with this particular immigrant to Canada, and some of his British roots, please correspond at your convenience. I am trying to trace all the sides of my husband's family tree, but the Baldry one seems to have very little leads at this time. Thanks so much in advance. |
