Trip to Aachen with the Anglo-German Family History Society
|
We went on to Monschau, which also had parking difficulties & which we also forgot to bomb, so it was enchanting, stuck in the bottom of the Rur Valley on an S-bend in the river. We had lunch in the Berg Hotel. We explored the town pretty thoroughly, full as it was of mainly half-timbered Medieval buildings, spent most of my remaining marks on a bottle of Himbeergeist (raspberry schnaps) & got back to the coach with a minute to spare.
