St.Petersburg Cruise - Travemunde Page |
Tuesday 25th September Lübeck
The Mouth of the Trave River from the Braemar
A nice little town but not in Warnemunde’s league. We took the train to Lübeck. It was a bit if a hike from the Hautbahnhof into Town. We went past the Main Gate, which will need photoshopping, Then, round by St Petri Church to the Cathedral, where we had coffees, then went in. These churches are brick and quite austere, as is appropriate for Lutherans. Then, we went to the Town Centre to see the magnificent Town Hall & St.Marien Church. We saw Kitty in the square there & spotted the Buddenbrooks house of the Mann brothers. Then, along to the end of the Main Street & up a side street for lunch in a café which served ultra-thin pizza type dishes. This was near the Willy Brant house & Gunter Grass house. On the the St.Jakobi Church. Then, I spotted the bus stop for Travemunde, 3 minutes, oh bliss.
