Xmas 2025 - On the Campaign Trail

With Avis put to rest, it was time for Ken to get his demo boots dubbined & go back out on the
campaign trail against the evils in the World, just as Avis would have wanted.

DEMO PROTETING THE GAZA WAR September 6th 2025

We gathered at Russell Square. There were two separate protests that day. This was a very big one, perhaps 200,000 people. On the tube going, Ken palled up with a pair of doctors with their daughter & wisely stuck with them all day but was ok. We marched South as far as Aldwych, then right down The Strand to Trafalgar Square & down Whitehall Here, Ken gave up & took the tube home from Embankment. There had been half a dozen brave Jews with flags at Waterloo Bridge, where we chanted, shame on you.
The other demo was in Parliament Square & was a protest against the arrest under the Terrorism Act of people who had been arrested at a previous demo Ken had, to his shame, not attended, where people supporting the unfairly condemned group Palestine Action, which the government (to their shame) condemned as terrorists. On this parallel demo, more people, many quite elderly, were quite absurdly arrested as ‘terrorists’, our government, alas, not missing any opportunity to look mendacious or stupid. Ken, a Labour Party for 60 years & one-time Councillor, was by now considering his options.

THE IRANIANS (ILA) FEAST & UPDATE September 13th 2025

This was a big one for the Mehgran Festival
in the Mercure London Hotel near West Brompton Station. The last one we had been to was when Ken could take Avis in the car but that became impractical last year, as wheelchairs were not available. There was a minor event earlier in the year, which Ken did attend. It is now 45 years that he has been supporting these people, refugees & resistance to the Ayatollahs.

DEMO PROTETING THE VIST BY PRESIDENT TRUMP September 17th 2025

We gathered at Portland Place. Considering that it was a weekday, there was a very large turnout. We marched, via Regent Street, Haymarket, Trafalgar Square & Whitehall to Parliament Square where Ken could luckily have a sit-down, now being 82.
Note the Black Americans, Canadians & between them, Billy Bragg singing.
