Art Appreciation

A series of lectures illustrated by copious slides, which take place on the:-

2nd Thursday in 2015 (programme below) at 12:30pm in the

Upper Hall (1st floor) at the Claremont Project, White Lion Street
(near the Angel junction)

Group co-ordinator: Avis Saltsman (fine artist & printmaker - e-mail on this link).
Just turn up - there is plenty of room & Claremont members who are not IU3A members are also welcome.
These talks follow the Music Appreciation talks on this link that start at 11:00am.

Starting with a talk each about the 19th century roots of Modernism, i.e. Van Gogh, Gauguin & Cezanne, the series moves into the 20th century with Matisse & a talk on the French Colourist movement he spawned: the Fauves. Then, a talk each on the Cubists; the two German Expressionist groups: Die Brücke & Der Blaue Reiter; the Italian Futurists & the Vorticists, a British modernist movement. Two talks on the Russian Modernists follow, with the Bauhaus; Paul Klee & Kandinsky (these last three still in preparation but we are confident they will be ready in time).

Thursday May 14th 2014 12:15 "German Expressionism - Die Brücke"
