Thomas (Delaforce) Forse born abt. 1770

From: Cecelia Allman e-mail her

"My" forces were Delaforce at one time-then La Force-then Force--then in 1798, my Thomas changed the name from Force to Forse when he married in the Chester, PA. area--I have a handwritten genealogy that starts at this time period

-I think he was born ca, 1770 --1775
I have tried for 27 years to find his parents--I think they came from France to England then to America-

I have not had any luck with immigrant ships because of the early dates

Thomas's father may even had been a rev war soldier that helped General Washington when he asked the French for help to defeat the British

I have searched all leads that have been given me, but I guess it's not to be that I ever will find his parents.

De la Fosse from Edinburgh

From: Janice Towersey e-mail her

I have only been researching our family history for a few months and as yet only through the internet soon however I hope to go to London to do some searching in the Parish records etc. We had also been told that the (De Fosse) connection was in Edinburgh and that the illigitimate child eventually arrived in London. I presumed that the child was my gr gr gr grandfather James Judd a builder living in 1854 in St Pancras area. As he was born before the 1837 registration law I have not as yet been able to find any information. If this is the family connection I should like to find out or of course it could be a red herring can you help in any way if so please e-mail me.

THOMAS - FORCEE-FORCEY , b. abt. 1766 (entry revised 24/3/2005)

From: Sally Dutton e-mail her

Thanks to all the kind folks who answered my first query , abt. THOMAS FORCEE .... and ELIZABETH ARNOLD.

I think I may need to pose a slightly different approach -- does anybody out there have a family of FORCE - FORCEE - FORCEY - De la FORCE, etc, etc, that went to North Carolina abt. 1775-76 or thereabouts, with children or child, and were captured by Indians, or dropped from sight, or who just re-located and maybe turned up later in that or another area. ?????

My THOMAS FORCEE has this tale abt. him being taken to North Carolina by his parents and being captured by Indians, trying several times to escape, and finally getting away abt. 1776, making his way to New Jersey, where he is found by George Washington, subsequently serving as Drummer-Boy and Messenger for the Great One. Nothing is said abt. the parent's fate, or if there were siblings involved...

THOMAS died 1865 , is buried Dale's Cemetery, near Clearfield, Penn., and his grave has DAR also Rev. War markers, placed there 1925 by the DAR. I am trying to trace him back, and determine his parents, siblings, and ancestors. Maybe there is a researcher out there who " lost " a family of FORCE's, or similarly named - or the family finally " popped up " after being missing ..... that would set me in the right direction.

I do have THOMAS' descendents , in the Clearfield, Penn . area - I am one of them - he was my 3 Gr Grandfather. Finding any data abt. his past has been difficult.. Thanks for any help - Sally Dutton

Samuel de la Fosse London clockmaker

From: Warren Rule e-mail him

I have an original longcase clock with “Samuel de la Fosse London” engraved on the brass dial. Many characteristics of the clock indicate that it was made ca.1720. What research I’ve been done reveals that he was a Brother in the Clockmakers Company (Guild) and that he started making clocks in the early 1690’s

Could you forward my email to whoever might know more about the life of my clockmaker?

Thanks for whatever assistance you can provide. Warren Rule

Noah Force born 1765 in New Jersey, U.S.A

From: Bruce Alan Force e-mail him

I've been searching our Force ancesters for a short while, but it seems to stop at our Noah Force born 1765 in New Jersey, U.S.A.

He settled in Ontario afterwards. We have seen his farm and two sons farms in an area by Princeton, Ontario, Canada in an area known as Force's Corner; from old 1800 maps.

Anyway, do you have any information on this Grandfather of mine? I would appreciate any help, and I hope you can. Our records indicate he married a Mary Beamer in New Jersey.

Thanking you in advance, Bruce Alan Force Woodstock, Ontario, Canada
