Passage of the Dardanelles

Monday 17th October 2016 At sea in the Dardanelles.

Europe through the Dardanelles

Laundry first. It was rather hard to walk on deck because of the wind & it was much colder, justifying a fleece. At about 11, we approached the Dardanelles & were close enough inshore to photo the two war memorials, although it was very hard to take pictures because of the gale.

Right: The Commonwealth War Memorial

The Turkish War Memorial

It did settle somewhat later but it still uncomfortable on deck. Going about while we were at lunch, the ship listed to port & we had to hang on to our water glasses.

Asia through the Dardanelles

After, I did essay another trip out but soon stopped to talk to Steve the Dance host. After tea, a guy came up to me to say I had served him soup on the Aldermaston March! We read until it was time for an Indonesian Buffet in the Secret Garden. The show was a mixed one, with the show team, then Holly singing. She does not do the pop items in a good voice but the more classical items (e.g. Gounod’s Ave Maria on Bach) in a completely different & much better voice. She was followed by the magician/ funny man, who is quite good.
