Thursday 15th December 2016 - Boarding
The traffic was diabolical & it cost us £4 just to get up Lombard Street, so we missed the first train. No matter, We were soon at ghastly Tilbury & shared a taxi with two other people, a Greek lady & an American, who had just flown in from Michigan. We went in the old terminal, the first in Britain, which is listed & a lot nicer than the shed we used last time (March 2010, Marco Polo) but that had been a lot quicker. We hung around for a couple of hours. The ship is just out of dry dock & we soon noticed a few teething troubles. Our telly did not work & it took ages for our bags to come aboard but we, as gold members, were the lucky ones. Cakes in the Brigadoon Lounge, formerly the Braemar Garden Lounge, which is not as nice as it used to be, as the lounge next door has been cut off & is now gloomy, with no daylight & dark blue paint. Alan Tait is the Cruise Director & we bumped into him, who remembered us. Only 4 on our dinner table & we have not sussed out the other two yet. The show team are new & have a few rough edges but were ok. The next day was at sea.
