Caribbean Cruise April 2013 - Ponta Delgada, Azores Page |

A dirty day going in to Ponta Delgada
Only a half-day in Ponta Delgada. The Azores, in the shape of Sao Miguel island, appeared in the mist & had cloud on top at about 1200, so this is not the greatest web page. In fact, we don't have much luck with Ponta Delgada. From what we could see from the ship, it is a beautiful town. More photos of Ponta Delgada on this link
"Manuel" style architectural features, mostly churches in Ponta Delgado, seen from the ship
However, we went on the tour to the caldera at 1320. Only, we could not see a thing at all, so we went early to the pineapple farm, somewhat interesting.

Then, on to the botanical gardens, ditto but would be great with a bit of Sun. There were Bomarzo-type grottos all over them.

There were Bomarzo-type grottos all over the gardens. On the front, we had a brief photo stop at Pope John Paul II Square before returning to the ship for an 1800 start.
