First cruise after Lockdown - Scilly Isles Page |
Sunday 1st August 2021
Hugh Town on St.Mary’s Isle
The driver did actually get us to the Scilly Isles for breakfast. As you could not go ashore except on a tour, we watched the tenders taking people to St.Mary’s & Tresco. (The walks would have been too much for Avis).

I took all the photos one might need in the morning, as there was a prospect of rain but it was sunny later, so I took them all again later & they were then, much better, as the Sun had come round. I did get Star Castle from the ship. I think this is the only Vauban-style castle in the British Isles. The Driver did his rounds & I got a photo with him after asking how much fuel it uses - 70 tons per day cruising. That is twice what Braemar uses but the ship is 3x the size. (It’s bigger than the Titanic).

Turkey for dinner & a show team show after. The music they have to use is mostly rather poor quality, though.
