Norway Coast Cruise - Molde & Atlantic Road (Norway) - March 18th 2010 |
We had made landfall but it was raining. The land was distinctly Ken Country, a bit like the Lake District & very attractive. I spent much of the morning on deck eyeing the scenery & taking photos, some abortive. Avis went to the gym & I chatted briefly to two fatties & their husbands. Up above the stem, the wind blasted one with water & I did not stay there long - 20 seconds. Molde, the 'City of Roses' is modern because of the 1916 fire & WWII.
Ugh, what a landfall! |

It was still raining when we got off the ship & onto our tour bus. The courier, who talked far too much, told us that they thought the winter was over, as the snow had gone & the flowers started to come up but then, as I had seen on the web-cam, they were well dumped upon again last week. The bus took us over the hill the town spreads up & through countryside with a lot of standing water. This was because the underlying soil was frozen & the water could not be soaked up. Eventually, we got to the Atlantic Road, which links islets but did not go far along it. With several others, I got out of the coach in the pouring rain to photo the most spectacular bridge & it took all the rest of the day to dry my goretex out.

Oh dear! |
From Ergan at Bud |
We were back just in time for dinner, after which there was a decidedly unfunny funny-man in the big Lounge on whom we soon walked out, whereupon Colin & I swapped out-of-copyright music between our laptops.
