Canaries Xmas Cruise 2021 - Cadiz Page |

A rain-splattered Cadiz first thing in the morning
It was raining quite heavily in Cadiz. Coach to Jerez. We had a tour in Jerez that was round the town in two directions before going round a booze factory. No walk because of the weather but there was quite a bit round the factory, where they make the sherry. The tasting was interesting. I’m no fan of dry sherry but that was only one of three, with tapas to accompany, quite an adequate lot.

Then, back to the ship over the big new bridge. Avis went straight to bed while I had lunch chatting & worked on the talks pip emma. Avis turned up later. I had requested a different table for dinner & after argy-bargy with Chandra, the Maître de, eventually got us on a table for 6 with 4: Eileen, Trevor, John (ex-BT but an accountant & deaf) & Jennie next to me. After, we were not going to the non-singing singer & eventually, found ourselves chatting to Seamus & Terrie. Somehow early, Mum’s maiden name cropped up & Seamus turned out to have been a wine merchant. Then, like us, they have flats. Seamus knew all about Delaforce Port & I got the laptop out & showed where I was in the Delaforce family. Then, I showed a lot of “Life after Reuters” & we found we had chatted for a couple of hours. They said I “tell a good tale”. Just as well. Fortunately, the clocks go back tonight.
