To the Frozen North - Panoramic Tour, Faroe Isles page |
Nordic Center, with stuff from all the Nordic countries |
This was supposed to be a Panoramic Tour but, weather not permitting (in fact, normal Faroese weather) caused us to visit the Nordic Centre in Torshavn first. This is an Arts centre but the quality was distinctly variable. After that, we were driven North, first to the fjord-side village of Kollafjordur, which has a characteristic little wooden church with a turf roof. |

We drove quite a long way North up the island of Stremoy to the "Bridge over the Atlantic", which they claim is the only one but Scotland has two. We walked across this for the 'experience' & continued North, now on the island of Esteroy & passed the highest waterfall in the Faroes. We were heading for the town (village) of Eioi but the sea stacks were concealed by thick sea mist. However, we had the consolation of sheep shearing to be watched, before driving back to Torshavn. |
