Venice & Dubrovnik Cruise - Kekeria, Corfu Page |
Monday 28th October
Leaving at 1400 hours - Old City, Old Fort & New Fort
It was a public holiday, something to do with the end of the Second World War, which was very messy in Greece, so lots of uniforms & bands around but, since we had to get back to the ship, we did not stay around for the ceremonies. There was a shuttle bus today. We did go round the Cathedral & through the Old City, which looks it.

This brought us out on the big green, the Spianada Square, on the North side, where we stopped for coffee €6.60 & I gave an Albanian girl beggar with a baby a euro as well. We could see Albania clearly across the sound. St. Spiridon Church did not allow photography. Meanies.

However, a little church on the main pedestrianised street did. We walked across to the Old Fort but came back later, as the light was wrong for photography. On the way, we passed a memorial to Corfu's takeover by Greece, sprayed with anti-Golden-Dawn graffiti.
