Ibiza

Sunday 8th April 2018, afternoon only

Formentara

Ibiza

Entering Ibiza Harbour

Another tiresome afternoon-only day but that was because of the loss of time in Biscay. However, it was nice day and got quite warm or seemed so, 15°C. After an early lunch, we took the shuttle as the ship was a long way from the Old City on the opposite side of the bay, with some unattractive hotels between.

The Old City

One entrance into the Old City

A Church in the Old City

We walked to the lower wall of the Old City & Avis said she was no way going up, a sensible decision, as there were a lot of steps and tunnels through the massive Moorish walls to get to the top, past several bastions ans some churches. I left Avis in a café with funds & set off up.

Another little church

Quarter

The Cathedral is at the top & is quite old, having been built when the Moors were driven out. It is quite simple but rather dark inside. I made my way down a different way past Christophe Columbus' house (very modest) & came out by the Main Gate.

Picking up Avis, we started back along the front, stopping at the Café Mar y Sol, definitely not recommended, as both ice cream & ethnic cake were 'off'. We had coffee & muffins instead. Service was mega-slow as well. A gaggle of English girls on the next table took even longer to get served & their order was 'off' as well.

Just behind the Front

The Front with the yacht harbour

We took the shuttle back to the ship, had tea in the Palms, washed & I put the laundry in to soak. The terminal here does not have wi-fi, soddit, as I need a lot of pictures & some more web pages. We had dinner in the Palms. The singer-pianist was ok, I suppose but not that good.
