Lisbon from the horrid Concrete Christ
We had not reset the ship's alarm clock, as the tour was fairly early but were still up later, of course. The tour was a bit odd, as there was mist over Lisbon, so they reversed the direction. We went to Setubal & stopped in this rather uninteresting town for coffee & cha (which was Twinings!) & a look round the market.

Then, round the Church of San Juliaio & check out the Luisa Toda monument. The street is named after her, too. Then, we proceeded up the hills on the South side of the Tagus.

They were certainly hilly, if not more than 500m high. There was a Franciscan Monastery on the way which looked like a little village & good views but the coach, full of crumblies, did not stop in the hills.

Eventually, we were at the dreadful Concrete Christ overlooking Lisbon, which makes a splendid panorama point but since it was put up to celebrate Portugal's non-participation in WWII, at a time when Salazar was keeping them poor & ignorant, the money could have been better spent.

The sail away gave us splendid views of Lisbon on the best day, weatherwise, of the cruise, starting with these two old friends. The Astor was in as well.
