Palma panorama in the rain from the cruise terminal
Rain in Palma, quite hard at first. We had to get up early, as we started at 08:45 on the one hour haul to Puerto Christo for the Caves of Drach, a good choice given the weather. We went through a lot of orchards of almonds, apricots, figs and olives. The caves were more spectacular than I remembered & we had a mini-concert: Pachebel's Canon; Elgar's Chant de Matin; Hofstetter's Serenade & Offenbach's Barcarolle. Then, we were taken along by boat. On the way back, they stopped at one of their phony pearl factories.
The Caves of Drach
Ken went back into the city to explore the old quarter to the East of the Cathedral, which he examined & vast it is. He found the Arab Baths, which are the last Moorish buildings surviving, some churches & the Town Hall, apparently the oldest to be continuously used for the purpose
