Livorno

Tuesday 7th May 2019

Livorno from the ship

We walked into the city, which was further than the 800m suggested. This came out between the Old and New Basins & the Old Fort.

Livorno Old Fort

It was quite hard to pin down the canal area, because neither the ship’s map nor the town’s were usable separately but together, one could work it out.

The Old Fort

The New Basin

We had coffees at a delightful but rare cafe on our way to the New Castle, started in 1590, the old one on the shore being vulnerable to artillery fire.

Madonna Bridge
