Genoa from the ship at sail away time
A glorious day, unlike yesterday but it rained solidly in Genoa then. We took the shuttle into the port side of the Old City, which is arcaded here & had a coffee. Then, we went round by the Palazzo San Giorgio & up the Via San Lorenzo which seems steep & takes one 1st to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo

In all, we did three churches, the Cathedral, the Chiesa del Gesł & dei SS.Ambrosio e Andrea & The Chiesa Mateo. All of them were grossly over top in terms of decoration & gold leaf, an attempt to nail down the Counter-Reformation message that the austerity of the Reformation message was not for the proletariat.
