Ken drove down to Schmalkalden. We had some spectacular hills to drive over, which seem typical of Thüringen. We had more coffee with a very helpful wench & had a walk round the pedestrianised city centre, taking a lot more photos. The purpose of coming here is that the Protestant Prince signed a mutual defence agreement in 1531, they called the Schmalkaldic League. Naturally, this crops up in Ken’s European History lectures.
