A trip to visit sites in Eastern Germany associated with J S Bach & Martin Luther

There are roughly hourly ferries from Dover to Calais or Dunkirk. We usually use the P & O ferry to Calais at 07:35 in the morning or the one an hour later. We have breakfast on the boat & head off to the first night on the way, which in this case, was in Köln. It pays to use Google Street View to locate one's hotel & all the dodgy turnings on the way & learn what they look like.

The top map shows the motorway route from Kôln to Eisenach via Mühlhausn, at the top right bend, which we called in on the way. The other maps show the excursions we made from the principle stopping points, Eisenach & Quedlinburg. From Quedlinburg, our way home was a cut through the Harz Mountains, of which we saw little, then a motorway bash to Brukke (Bruges) & back via Calais.
