All along the Mediterranean Cruise - Alanya |
As one comes towards the port, the Castle Rock stands out as a quite amazing view. With an early breakfast, we were walking at 9, up the road to the castle. The taxi drivers said it was 6km but it was more like 4 & at Avis' pace, it took an hour, getting warmer all the time but it was worth it for the passing interest & views.

Still a number of flowers out |
At last, after one hour |
Byzantine Church in the castle |
Straight down to Alanya |
The entrance to the castle from inside |
The castle itself needs more excavation but the views are quite splendid. Avis had been lusting for an ice-cream but none of the cafés on the walk had any, note. We walked back but missed our turning, so went further into town than we needed to do, note this as well.
The Wall over the sea |
The West part of Alanya... |
... and its huge long beach |
After lunch, I went along the front, snapping boats. This is all 'new town' & there was not time to walk round to the West part of the town.
Tourist boats & fishemen on the quay in Alanya |
The ship's excellent show team did a good rock 'n roll nostalgia show in the evening, after some energetic bopping on the quarter deck which involved one them being chucked in the swimming pool.
