Spitzbergen via Norway - Along the Coast Page |
Thursday 24th July 2014 - Along the Coast
We sailed up through the coastal islands all day, with rather dull weather at first, then mixed in the afternoon & brilliant in the evening, which went on for ever up here. As we got to the Arctic Circle, we assembled on the top deck, where one of the crew made an ice sculpture of a Sea Eagle in about 9 minutes with a shape trowel. This was impressive. Then, a Troll King marked the noses of people crossing for the first time with blue paint. No one was thrown into the pool, alas!
Torghatten, the mountain with the hole through it, better seen right. |
